Eclipse (2018), video installation at Contemporary Calgary 2020
Throughout history and across cultures, people universally describe seeing the total eclipse of the sun as a transformative experience. In 2017, I traveled to Wyoming to observe this phenomenon first hand. Standing in the shadow of totality was simultaneously surreal, awe inspiring and surprisingly emotional. Witnessing the alignment of the sun, earth, and moon is a humbling confirmation of our cosmic situation. It irrevocably positions the entirety of everything we are and everything we have ever known on a small planet spinning through the infinite vastness of space and time.
