Fragments of a Year: Berlin (2012-2017)

Fragments of a Year – Berlin, 2012-2017  (sample excerpt)

Fragments of a Year – Berlin is a looping 4 channel video installation. This work examines how landscape is tied to memory and our sense of place. The process I developed for constructing this work was inspired by the way that quantum physics describes subatomic particles as existing in a state of probability. The video imagines how the visible world might look if it behaved the same as quantum physics describes the subatomic world. To achieve this, I shot the Berlin cityscapes in segments then collaged the free floating segments together into unstable images that are disconnected in time. The segments, like quantum particles, exist in a state of probability.
